It was a dark, murky day. The clouds began to rumble with the thundering of a future storm. Sekane Uchiha was walking home from the Ninja Academy, alone. Normally she would be walking alongside her twin brother, Sasuke, but today before the sky had fallen into a deep gray, she had left Sasuke at the Academy to train. She had assured him that she would be fine walking home alone after he had looked so sad when they had to walk home early. At first he looked unsure, but she gave him a reassuring smile and he seemed to cave.
The rain had just started to poor and Sekane sought cover under a tree on a small hill next to a large lake, which reflected the dark, cloudy sky. Sekane sat down against the tree, her jacket covering her long, jet black hair with red streaks. She stared out at the beautiful sight of the clouds swirling on the surface of the lake.
"Hey, you!" Sekane looked up to see five older, bigger boys staring down at her with satisfied smiles spread across their faces.
"Look who we have here," the boy with dark brown hair said. He picked her up by a lock of her hair. She winced and grimaced as he yanked her up. "It's little Sekane Uchiha," he chuckled.
Sekane was thrown back onto the ground head first, and mud splattered all along her pale face. The black haired boy kicked her hard in the side as he said, "You disgrace our village. Just die!" Sekane coughed up blood as she tumbled down the hill. She got to her feet quickly and began to run, knowing they were following.
"Please, just leave me alone!" Sekane shouted, hoping for her life that someone would come to her rescue and fast. They had caught her in a dead end at the end of a dock. And the brown haired one, (whom she assumed to be the leader) pulled a kuni knife out of his weapons pouch.
"I'll just dispose of this trash now!" He smiled and started towards Sekane. Just then a flash of yellow ran in front of her and slowly she brought into focus a small blonde boy with his arms outstretched as if he were protecting her. Sekane could see the boy's whiskers on the sides of his cheeks.
Are you?" Sekane asked, confused.
"Naruto Usumaki! That's the name!"
"Oh, it's the other demon kid," one of the kids in the back shouted. "Let's just kill 'em both!"
One of the other boys punched Naruto in the stomach. Naruto fell to the ground clutching his stomach, a single tear streaming down his face. The other boy advanced on Sekane, his malicious smile frightening. Sekane trembled as she scooted backwards with her hands having fallen to the ground.
Just as the boy swung his large fist towards her, Naruto jumped up and took the hit. "Naruto-Kun!" Sekane shouted as Naruto fell to the ground in front of her.
Suddenly Sekane's vision became scarily sharp as she saw more tears stream down Naruto's face. Furious, Sekane glared up at the boys with disgust. The silver haired one smiled. "Oh
It seems the demon brat has sharigan." He walked up and began kicking and punching her fragile body as she lay crumbled on the ground. Soon all the boys joined in. The assumed leader picked her up by the front of her black tank top, and Sekane was so weak she had no power to resist. He, once again, pulled out his kuni, and with Naruto out of commission and Sekane's body full of numbing pain, she closed her eyes, preparing for the knife to pierce through her delicate skin.
Sekane felt the boy's hand tremble and she opened her eyes to see the boys not looking at her but at the tall figure, which had caught the knife and was staring at them fiercly. The boys' eyes were filled with petrified looks of fear at her older brother.
san," Sekane struggled to say as the words came slowly and painfully out of her bleeding mouth.
"What did you think you were doing to my little sister?" Itchi said calmly yet fiercely.
The brown haired boy calmed and smiled as he said, "Just takin' out the trash. No biggie." He shrugged and within the next second he had been knocked to the ground, holding his face.
Sekane was falling with him for a split second until she was caught bridal style and held safely against her brother's warm chest. She lay there, listening to his heartbeat when he said angrily, "Now run off, and never hurt my sister again!" Itachi was now blistering with rage on the inside. How could they do this to his little sister?
"I feel bad for you knowing that monster is your sister!" the black haired one shouted, and with that he ran off, whimpering with humility.
Itachi looked at the quivering little girl in his arms. She looked so frail and as if she was in so much pain. "Sekane, are you-"
She cut him off. "Naruto-Kun
Make sure he's
Itachi looked around and caught sight of the small, unconscious, blonde boy lying at the end of the dock. He walked over and checked to make sure the boy named Naruto was okay then said serenely, "He's fine, just unconscious."
Sekane smiled. "That's
good," she gasped as she began to fall into a deep, undisturbed sleep in her older brother's arms.
Itachi clutched his sister tight to his chest. Why? he thought. Why did they have to seal it inside of her? He picked up Naruto, and ran him to the hospital where he left him and started back towards the Uchiha compound. The sky was still dark but it had stopped raining. Itachi had wrapped his black sweater around Sekane but she still shivered in pain. It pained him to no end seeing his sister like this. Although she was still naïve, he knew why Sekane was beaten up so frequently.
Five years ago the Hidden Leaf Village was attacked by an evil, nine-tailed demon fox. In order to save the village, the fourth hokage, or leader of the village, attempted to seal the fox in a newly born baby boy. although he was able to seal most of it inside the child, the spirit was just too large. As a result, the rest of the power was sealed inside a baby girl with jet black hair.
Sekane was that baby girl. She held within her less than half of the demon fox's power. The secret was kept from the two kids, and when fourth hakage died after making the seal, a law was passed so that no one could speak of the incident. Although the children knew nothing of the demon inside them, parents shunned them both, teaching their children to do the same.
Sekane whimpered from pain in Itachi's gentle arms as they jumped through trees to the Uchiha home. Then she opened her eyes slowly and heavily. "Itachi
nee-san," she whispered.
Itachi looked down at her surprised. "Thank goodness you're awake; I was worried!"
After linisting Itachi to put her down, she stood and walked into the Uchiha complex. Immedaitly she felt two skinny, small arms wrap tightly around her neck. "Ni-chan!" Sasuke shouted, holding her tightly.
Sekane winced suddenly at the attack when Itachi said, "Sasuke, let her go; she's injured."
Sasuke released her immediately. "I'm so sorry," he began to sob. "I should have walked home with you."
Sekane whipped a tear out of his eye and smiled, saying, "It's all right." She was then called into her father's room where she sat down and with a very small voice said, "You wished to see me, father?"
Her father wore an expression of disgust on his tan face. His onyx black eyes flickered with anger. Fugaka, her father, sat crisscrossed, his arms folded, and he wore a shirt which looked like a short green kimono outlined with gold. "Do you try disgrace me?" he asked calmly.
Sekane looked at him, confused. "Huh?"
"I just got a call from one of the five boys' parents and they said you tried to use sheringan," he said sternly. "How dare you disgrace our family's trait by making it seem so weak and feeble!"
He swiftly strode over and slapped her so hard that not only did she fall to the ground, but Sekane could also feel the warm trickle of blood down her chin. "But Father," she called out, "I have no idea what a shoringan is. You can't punish me for this!" She shouted now, fury building up inside of her core.
"How dare you," he snarled as his foot collided with the center of Sekane's small, five year old body. "I may punish you for whatever I wish!"
Her stomach jeered in pain as he went to kick her again. Just that moment Itachi came in and swiftly stopped their father's incoming kick. "Father, what are you doing? You, of all people, should know it's not her fault" Itachi felt such anger towards his father right then that he felt his shanigan start to slowly appear, but he quickly suppressed it when he felt his younger sister grasp his ankle.
" Sekane whispered. "I deserve
to be punished." Itachi looked at her with not only surprise, but also sorrow. How could she think this was okay?
Fugaka swiftly turned and sat back down. "Get that demon out of my sight!" he growled as Sekane's eyes widened at the sound of her own father calling her a demon.
Sekane slowly, and painfully, stood as tears started to prick her eyes. Then she stormed out of the room, out of the house, out of the complex. She ran and ran until it hurt and she didn't once look back.
Finally she felt her legs buckle and decided she should probably stop running. Sekane looked up to find she had stopped behind the Academy. She looked around and sitting there swinging sulkily on an old wooden swing was a young boy with blonde hair. After seeing Naruto, she walked over, sat down next to him, and began to sob.
" Naruto said, unsure. A little girl was sobbing at his feet. He was curious then he realized the raven hair of the girl had been the same as the one from before on the docks. She looked up at him slowly and when he was her pitch black eyes, he knew it must be the same girl. He turned to face her completely and asked, "Why are you crying?"
Sekane looked up at the boy, shocked. He had actually spoken to her. Aside from her brothers, most people tried to avoid her. "You're
You're not gonna run away?" she muttered quietly.
"Why would I run away?" Naruto asked, still staring, confused.
"Most people run from me. They call me a demon." She looked down. "A monster."
"Well, that's ridiculous!" Naruto exclaimed with a smile. "You seem fine to me." he held out his hand to help her up. All she could do was stare at him, shocked. He didn't think she was evil or a demon. He saw her, saw her heart. He was the only one. "Come on, we should be friends." He grinned widely. "People call me those things too, but c'mon, we can be outcasts together."
Sekane looked into his beautiful light blue eyes. "To
together," she murmured. A wide grin spread across her face, and she grabbed hold of his soft hand. Together they walked and they never once let go of the others hand. They both, deep down inside, knew that a bond was just created that could never be broken.
